Wildfire Resiliency
Wednesday, June 11
10:15am – 2:45pm

As the devastating wildfires of recent years have shown all too clearly, the need for fire-resilient solutions in design, land planning, and building methods and materials has never been more critical.
This focused, half-day breakout will provide in-depth, actionable information on building wildfire safe homes and communities.
Program Overview:
To open the program, we’ll hear from California State Fire Marshal Daniel Berlant, who leads one of the largest, most advanced fire prevention agencies in the world.
Chief Berlant will share updates on CAL FIRE’s efforts to create safer, more resilient communities, rooted in collaboration with industry, scientists, researchers, and local community groups.
We'll also learn about scientifically proven wildfire mitigation standards developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS)—including a case study of the nation's first certified Wildfire Prepared Neighborhood, built by KB Home.
And we'll get valuable findings on the spread, routes, and conditions of past wildfires, and how that’s informing the rebuilding plans of cities like Paradise, Lahaina and others.
Full topics and speakers to be announced soon.
Also featured: Wildfire Prepared Demo – Tuesday, June 10.
