The 2014 inductees to the California Building Industry Foundation’s Hall of Fame have been announced!  Mark your calendars for Tuesday night, June 24, and spend an evening at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco as we honor:

  • Stephen P.  Beinke, Blackhawk
  • Cheryl Gibson, Von-Jac Developments, Inc.
  • Robert A. and Karen Bonadelle McCaffrey, McCaffrey Homes
  • Jeffrey Meyers, Meyers Research, a Kennedy Wilson Company
  • Dave and Lori Sanson, DeNova Homes

This year, the Hall of Fame will celebrate its 30th anniversary by honoring seven individuals whose contributions to the industry and their communities set them apart from their peers.  They will join the ranks of some of the most successful and innovative builders, architects, land developers and associate professionals in the state.

The announcement of the Hall of Fame inductees comes after months of work by nominating committees from all over the state.  The Hall of Fame nominations process is not taken lightly—the application form alone represents a combination of research, interviews and career time-lining that is daunting in its own right.  When you realize that most of these nominations are written without the candidate’s knowledge or assistance, you can better appreciate the enormity of the task.

Having written many of the inductee profiles for the program over the years, one thing that strikes me about the Hall of Fame inductees is that their passion for home building is rivaled only by their commitment to service— for the industry, in their communities, for local and national non-profits, and to foundations that they have created on their own.

Another unique feature that ties together so many of the members of the Hall of Fame is the fact that for most of these men and women, their service and philanthropy doesn’t end with their induction in the Hall of Fame—in fact, they move past the bar that each has created, and do even more in the years that follow.

That’s why an induction in the Hall of Fame isn’t about one aspect of a career, or one highlight in a lifetime of service.  The Hall of Fame recognizes the cumulative effect of years of commitment and leadership.

With so many worthy inductees this year, and a 30th anniversary worth celebrating, start planning a table of business associates and friends to attend this notable event.
